I believe that for most human beings life goes up and down. We experience both good times and bad times. They come and go. There are people though whose life seems an endless stream of pain, loneliness and suffering. I don’t believe in randomness, I think there is a reason why we all have different lives. The soul has its own course and we are usually not aware of the path and reality of the soul.
I sometimes find that those who suffer, or have suffered, a lot can have a special gift. The gift of humility, honesty and of being ‘real’. They have shed the outer layers of fakeness and are outside the rat race of competition, pretention and making an impression on others. People like that can be a mirror to us, apart from teaching us compassion and kindness.
